Anise - used for millennia as a natural support to milk supply Nettle leaf - anecdotal evidence for hundreds of years suggests nettle can support milk supply, but no studies exist to confirm this Fenugreek seeds - the most tested galactagogue - shown in some small scale studies to increase milk supply and fat content in milk. Lemon Verbena - added to the blend for balance Rosemary - a balance to the sweetness of fennel and anise

1. Use 1 whole leaf tea bag in a 300ml cup
2. Pour freshly boiled water over it
3. Brew for 3-5 minutes, depending on your taste
4. Remove bag from cup, and keep in a small dish (or egg cup!) by your kettle
5. Re-brew your bag, and just leave it in the cup for a little longer
6. Relax and take a moment with your cuppa.

HotTea Mama don't recommend adding milk, but a drop of honey or lemon can be a good match.

How Many Cups Can I Drink A Day?

The benefits of any tea can hopefully build over time - so HotTea Mama recommends having 3 cups a day from 37 weeks and combining with hand expressing colostrum. Then just keep it up - your supply will naturally be higher in the evening/night time, so you can drink it earlier in the day to stay hydrated and support yourself.

Always seek medical advice first

A cup Of Milk

HotTea Mama 's Milk's Up breastfeeding tea is designed to naturally support mothers while nursing.

Milk's Up is an award winning caffeine-free blend of fennel, nettle, fenugreek seeds, lemon verbena and star anise. These are natural galactagogues which have been used for millennia to support your milk supply, but they also taste delicious.

What are galactagogues?

A galactagogue is a natural herb or food stuff that can help support your milk supply when breastfeeding.  Fenugreek, fennel, anise, and even oats, are all galactagogues.  So if you include these in your diet you have a good chance of supporting your body in feeding your baby.

How To Enjoy The Benefits

HotTea Mama's recommend starting to drink this tea before you have your baby. In the final weeks (from 38 weeks) of pregnancy, have up to 3 cups a day. Combine this with pumping to establish your milk supply and get some confidence before the baby arrives. NHS guidelines recommend a maximum 3 cups of any herbal tea a day. Whilst this tea is not a drug, and is a natural remedy, you should give it 3-5 days to have an impact. The impact of natural galactagogues will vary person to person.

Tasting Notes

Warming, spicy – almost savoury, in a good way

Fenugreek gives this blend a wonderful balance of sweet and bitter notes, with it’s aroma of dark, almost burnt caramel.

Fennel, Anise and Lemon Verbena add to it’s sweetness, with rosemary and nettle giving it a warming, earthy note.

HotTea Mama don’t recommend adding milk or sugar, but follow your cravings and personal taste!
