HotTea Mama 's Milk's Up breastfeeding tea is designed to naturally support mothers while nursing.
Milk's Up is an award winning caffeine-free blend of fennel, nettle, fenugreek seeds, lemon verbena and star anise. These are natural galactagogues which have been used for millennia to support your milk supply, but they also taste delicious.
What are galactagogues?
A galactagogue is a natural herb or food stuff that can help support your milk supply when breastfeeding. Fenugreek, fennel, anise, and even oats, are all galactagogues. So if you include these in your diet you have a good chance of supporting your body in feeding your baby.
How To Enjoy The Benefits
HotTea Mama's recommend starting to drink this tea before you have your baby. In the final weeks (from 38 weeks) of pregnancy, have up to 3 cups a day. Combine this with pumping to establish your milk supply and get some confidence before the baby arrives. NHS guidelines recommend a maximum 3 cups of any herbal tea a day. Whilst this tea is not a drug, and is a natural remedy, you should give it 3-5 days to have an impact. The impact of natural galactagogues will vary person to person.
Warming, spicy – almost savoury, in a good way
Fenugreek gives this blend a wonderful balance of sweet and bitter notes, with it’s aroma of dark, almost burnt caramel.
Fennel, Anise and Lemon Verbena add to it’s sweetness, with rosemary and nettle giving it a warming, earthy note.
HotTea Mama don’t recommend adding milk or sugar, but follow your cravings and personal taste!
